About VIU
Venice International University (VIU) is an international center of higher education and research founded in 1995. On its campus on the Island of San Servolo in Venice, Italy, a community of international professors, researchers and students come together in a young and dynamic environment where they engage in topics common to the undergraduate, graduate and research programs.
School of Humanities and Social Sciences
In the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, students of the Semester Program attend courses at VIU for one or two semesters as part of their degree in their home university. The program is an exciting, innovative and challenging opportunity for students who excel academically and who are interested in living for a semester or an academic year in an international and dynamic environment, communicating and working with people from other cultures. Only students from VIU’s member universities are eligible for the Semester Program.
Globalization Program
The Globalization Program aims to contribute to the internationalization of VIU’s member universities by giving students the opportunity to study and carry out research in an international context. Furthermore the program is the impetus for an original reflection on globalization within an international network that involves researchers, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, cultural institutions and regional institutions of the countries represented at Venice International University. The Globalization Program is for advanced undergraduate and master’s level students.
The Fall Semester will focus on Cultural Heritage and the Spring Semester will focus on Sustainable Development.
The approach is interdisciplinary and interactive and innovative teaching methods are adopted. Guest lectures, field trips and seminars are an integral part of the programs. The courses are English-taught by professors and researchers from VIU’s member universities.
